Hotrunner systems for the processing of thermoplastics are increasingly used for a wider range of applications, mainly because of technical and financial reasons.
Due to this trend, many conventional two or three plate molds are presently converted into hotrunner moulds. Such a step is often initiated by a purely qualitative assessment influenced by some technical and financial factors. However this approach to a decision is insufficient for many applications. Therefore, EWIKON has developed the calculation software CostCompare. This program facilitates the concrete financial quantification of the advantages and disadvantages of hotrunner tools in comparison with cold runner solutions. CostCompare offers the possibility to vary all parameters of influence which are decisive for the calculation of economic efficiency. For example, data on article and tool, machine data and processing parameters as well as an energetic and material balance are considered. Thus an exact determination of the effects on commercial quantity or the saving potential is possible. So the customer gets hard facts - and the necessary certainty of having taken the correct decision.
